What a day! We took off into the park knowing what route we wanted to take. We soon realized that we were the only car on the route. After calling the park's info number we found part of our route was closed for 2 weeks (probably due to road construction). The lower half was closed due to smoke. Because of the snow we didn't want to taker the easterly route which is steep and twisty road in elevations up to 8900 feet. We decided to head for the east route that also lead to the NE entrance. While enroute we noticed that this exit went thru another high twisty pass. We stopped at the ranger station and we advised to go back where we started and take a longer but safer route. What should have been a 6 hour trip became a 10 hour one. This route also had heavy snow showers and temperature got down to 34 but Robert calmly got us thru. It had been 12 years since he'd driven in snow.
On the bright side we came across some buffalo near and on the road that we had to wait for. What a treat!
We were very happy to check-in to our hotel and have a glass of wine. It was suggested that we try a a Mexican restaurant across the street. A great find.

While driving out we came across a small herd of buffalo. The truck in front of us had to wait for one to cross. There wasd a small parking lot nearby where one buffalo was trying to maneuver it's way out thru the cars. They obviously are used to having vehicles around.
Snow but at least at lower e!evation. Temp was 37. Notice speed limit is 80.
Showing on Yellowstone's narrow roads. Poor Robert having to deal with a nervous Nellie backseat driver!
